Details of the Day

DATE: Sunday 10th June 2018

TIME: 2pm

CARS: We will need cars moving from midday so we can decorate with bunting and get the tables and chairs out etc. It's only for half a day but we really appreciate it!

DECORATION: We'll drag tables and chairs out from houses. We are borrowing bunting but we can never have too much if people have any more!

MUSIC: Do we have any musicians that would like to play? If not, I'll put together a playlist for the music system

EVENTS/FUN:

  • Cake competition
  • Tug o' War between the north and south side of the street!
  • Face painting
  • Chalk drawing on the street
  • TBC

ROAD CLOSURE: The council has approved a license to close the south side of Chester Terrace - we can't close the entire road as they require Lucerne Road for access, but we intend to close the north side next year if people would like to alternate. The grey area is the road closure, the blue area is where we will have the tables and may only move the cars from this section or a little more than this. TBC

Road Closure Agreed by Council!

YAY! We've had the road closure agreed so the street party is going ahead!! Make sure you all have it in your diaries. Mike and I have done some more door knocking on the north side of the road to introduce ourselves and tell about the street party and hand out a leaflet reminder. Do tell your neighbours when you see them as well.

STREET PARTY UPDATE: SIGNATURES Mike and I had a successful walk around today (and I went around this evening for a few more) and I'm pleased to say that overall we had a wonderful response to the street party and met some lovely people! The form the council need filling in with 75% of the road agreeing to the road closure We needed two thirds positive response and have got 73% of the road signed up today so I have filled out the form to send to the council for the road closure which is really exciting! I also dropped in a little save the date leaflet to those who signed  (hello to four new neighbours who joined this evening after that!) Two people raised an objection to moving cars for the day. I understand that parking is such a pain but it would be so lovely for one day for the road to be clear and for children to be able to play car free. Plus, much easier for the planned north/south tug o' war  ;)  So please do move your cars by around midday. We hav

Musicians Needed!!

We could really do with some musicians for the street party. Do ask your friends and neighbours. As it's our first one we have no budget but hopefully next year we could do a collection and pay some people. But if anyone fancies playing do let me know! We can pay them in cake :)
